Sounds like you might have an issue with your thermostat You definitely had a bad radiator cap the next thing to do it to check the fan clutch warm up the engine to operating temperature then turn the engine off and see if the clutch is engaged you should not be able to turn the fan easily by hand Auto parts : Brake Spring Tool Acura 1995 . Pontiac . Step-by-Step Instructions on Replacing the Fuel Filter of a 1994 Geo TrackerThe fuel filter on your compact SUV 1994 Geo Tracker is designed to trap contaminants and small particles in the fuel that might damage fuel-system components. As part of its maintenance schedule, Chevrolet recommends replacing the filter every 30,000 miles (50,000 km) or 30 months or before, if you like to have fun with your Tracker off road where small dirt particles more easily find their way into the fuel tank. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need 2 chocks Wrench Floor jack Jack stand Goggles Small drain pan Small socket Ratchet Open-end wrench Flare wrench Shop ragRelieving the Fuel System Pressure Step by Step : 1 Make sure the engine on your Tracker is cold. This will prevent possible damage to the catalytic converter or causing a fire. 2 Set your transmission to "Neutral" (manual transmission) or "Park" (automatic transmission) and apply the parking brake. 3 Unplug the fuel-pump relay located on the driver's side under the dashboard. 4 Loosen the fuel-tank filler cap to release fuel vapors in the tank and re-tighten the filler cap. 5 Start the engine and let it run until it stalls from lack of fuel. Crank the engine again two times for about three seconds each time to make sure you have relieved the fuel pressure in the system. Then turn off the ignition. Removing the Fuel Filter Step by Step : 1 Chock the front wheels. 2 Disconnect the negative battery cable using the wrench. 3 Raise the rear passenger's side tire and wheel assembly using a floor jack and support your Geo on a jack stand. 4 Put on your goggles, get under the vehicle just in front of the rear tire and wheel assembly and locate the fuel filter in front of the fuel tank, mounted on the cross-member. 5 Place a small drain pan under the filter. 6 Look for a small pressure-relief screw on one end of the fuel filter. If your filter is equipped with this screw, use a small socket and ratchet to remove it. This will relieve the residual pressure in the fuel line. Allow the fuel to drain and drip on the drain pan. 7 Hold the hex nut molded on one end of the fuel filter using an open wrench and loosen the bolt holding the fuel line to that end of the filter with a flare wrench. 8 Loosen the fuel line from the other end of the fuel filter using the open-end and flare wrenches. 9 Remove the fuel line bolts the rest of the way with your hand and keep the bolts separate. They are of different size and need to be replaced in their correct place on the new filter. Step by Step : 10 Make a note of the position of the U-shaped notches on each end of the filter, where the fuel lines seat, so that you install the new filter with these notches pointing in the same direction. Step by Step : 11 Wrap a shop rag around one of the fuel-line fittings and detach the fuel line from the filter by hand. Use the rag to absorb any fuel remaining in the line. Step by Step : 12 Detach the other fuel line from the filter. Step by Step : 13 Loosen the mounting-clamp bolt from the fuel filter using a wrench, just enough to slide the filter off the clamp. Remove the filter and make a note of the "inlet" and "outlet" marks on the filter so that you install the new filter with these marks pointing in the same direction. Installing the New Fuel Filter Step by Step : 1 Slide the new fuel filter in the same position as the old one and install the clamp bolt finger-tight. 2 Insert one of the new copper gaskets that came with your new filter on one of the fuel line bolts so that it seats under the bolt's head. Then insert the bolt in the line fitting and install the other new copper gasket on the bolt so that it rests against the line fitting. Thread the line bolt by hand on its corresponding end of the fuel filter. 3 Install the other fuel line on the filter using the other two new copper gaskets and make sure both fuel lines seat properly on the U-shaped notches. 4 Tighten the mounting-clamp bolt using the wrench. 5 Tighten the fuel-line bolts using the open-end and flare wrenches. 6 Make sure the small pressure-relief screw on one end of the fuel filter is tightened, if your filter uses this screw. 7 Lower your Geo Tracker using the floor jack. 8 Plug in the fuel-pump relay located on the driver's side under the dashboard. 9 Connect the negative battery cable using the wrench. Step by Step : 10 Cycle the ignition key between the "On" and "Off" positions for three times and leave the key about three seconds in each position to prime the fuel system. Step by Step : 11 Check for fuel leaks at the filter.
Pontiac . How to Replace the Fuel Filter in an 05 TrailblazerYou need to change the fuel filter in your Chevy Trailblazer every 30 months or 30,000 miles. On the 2005 model Trailblazer, the fuel filter is mounted with a bracket on the fuel tank, as is the case with most recent models. The fuel system is under high pressure, so use extreme caution; also, don't start the vehicle after replacing the filter until you have cleaned up any fuel that may have spilled. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack 2 to 4 jack stands Wrench Compressed air Needle-nose pliers Rags ScrewdriverRemoval Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the fuel pump relay from the engine compartment's fuse box; the diagram under the fuse box lid will show the relay's location. Remove the filler cap on the side of the vehicle, run the engine until it stalls and then crank it for another five seconds to relieve all fuel pressure. 2 Disconnect the negative battery cable--loosen the clamp nut with an insulated wrench. 3 Raise at least the rear end of the truck and support it on jack stands. Raising the entire truck on at least four stands will give it better support. 4 Clean away dirt and other debris surrounding the fuel-line fittings at the filter using compressed air. 5 Disconnect the fuel lines from each end of the fuel filter, using your fingers or needle-nose pliers to disconnect the quick-connect fittings for each line. Wrap rags around the fittings or have a container underneath them to catch spilled fuel. 6 Unscrew the fuel-filter bracket from the tank; if you have a four-wheel drive truck with a tank shield, look for a small hole in the shield to access the mounting screw. 7 Squeeze the ends of the fuel filter's clip together and remove the filter from the line. Installation Step by Step : 1 Connect the replacement fuel filter to the line--most new filters will have a new clip already installed--and connect the bracket to the tank using the mounting screw. 2 Connect the inlet and outlet lines to the filter using the quick-connect fittings. 3 Lower the vehicle off the jack stands. 4 Reconnect the negative battery cable and the fuel-pump fuse. Then take the new condenser and slide it in where the old one was. If there's a new clip in the tune-up kit but you were able to slide your old condenser out without removing the old clip, forget the new clip as long as the old one seems to be in good condition and doesn't wiggle around. Congratulations! You just replaced your condenser. On to the points! Remove and replace the points The points on your vehicle may look a bit different from the ones in Figure 12-28, but they work the same way. Here's a rundown of some basic types of points that you may encounter: J«* Some points are made in a single unit; others consist of two halves that fit together. Some Chrysler products have dual sets of points, but these are no more difficult to install or change. v* Some foreign cars have little springs that come out separately from the points. If you have points like these, be sure to hold your free hand over the distributor when you loosen the points, or it will spring out and get lost. v* Some points have two screws that fit into slots in the points — these can be loosened, and the points will slide out. Others have a screw to hold the points down and another screw to adjust them. Part'": Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System Pontiac . How many models of cars are in world?

Take your screwdriver and open up the points in your distributor so that you can see between them. Are the contacts rough where they meet? This is usually the result of normal wear and tear. If they're badly burned or pitted, the points should be replaced. If the points are relatively new, excessive wear can be a sign that something is improperly adjusted or malfunctioning. Excessively worn points or burned points usually result from either poor adjustment when they were installed (this means that they were incorrectly gapped) or a bad condenser, or the accidental introduction of oil or cam lubricant between the point contacts. Because used points are impossible to read accurately with a feeler gauge (Figure 12-29 shows you why), you won't be able to tell if this is a case of poor adjustment. But if your olds points look badly burned or worn, be sure to check your new points after about 1,000 miles of driving, and if these look bad, too, ask your mechanic for an opinion.
